Lemont Approves Water Connection To Franciscan Village

Franciscan Village is already connected to village water, but it is only connected via the south of the property to an older line.

LEMONT, IL — At its July 27 meeting, the Lemont village board approved an emergency water connection agreement with Franciscan Sisters of Chicago. Village administrator George Schafer said during the meeting that the village was recently awarded a federal grant to run a water main on Main Street from Fordham Hills to Walker Road.

The village was awarded $1.5 million in federal grand funds and will contribute $400,000 in local funds for the project, Schafer told Patch.

"This would allow for an alternate connection in the event of an emergency," Schafer said.

According to board documents, this new connection would allow the village to connect the line to the new water main. With this agreement, the project will go out to bid in September and will be constructed with the rest of the water main project in 2021.
