Lemont Area Coronavirus Cases Increased By 16 Over Past Week

LEMONT, IL — The number of Lemont's coronavirus cases once again increased by 16 cases over the past week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 165 cases of coronavirus reported as of July 24, compared to 149 cases on July 17, which represents a 10.7 percent increase over the past week.

There is no available information regarding the number of patients who are hospitalized or who have recovered per town.

Here is the growth in the coronavirus case numbers for the past several weeks in Lemont. The data comes from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the number of cases reported in ZIP code 60439.

IDPH is also reporting a total of 3,482 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60439.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, there have also been six coronavirus related deaths in Lemont since March 16. The deaths included one woman in her 50s, one woman in her 60s, one woman in her 70s, one man in his 60s, one man in his 70s and one woman in her 80s. The most recent death was reported on June 17.

As of Friday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 168,457 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 7,385 Illinois residents. In suburban Cook County, there are 39,716 cases of the coronavirus and 1,768 related deaths.

The state recently developed new resurgence criteria to identify early but significant increases of coronavirus transmission. With the new criteria, the state also developed new emergency management regions, and Lemont, as part of suburban Cook County, is now part of region 10.

According to IDPH, as of data available on July 24, region 10 has had six days of test positivity increases and threes day of hospital admission increases. Data shows the positivity rate at 5 percent for the region. Hospital availability for region 10 has 27 percent of medical-surgical beds available and 38 percent of ICU beds available.
