Lemont Coronavirus Cases Increased By 29 Over Past Week

Suburban Cook County has now been placed at warning level due to its new cases per 100,000 and its number of deaths.

LEMONT, IL — The number of Lemont's coronavirus cases increased by 29 cases over the past week, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Lemont (ZIP code 60439) has 276 cases of coronavirus reported as of Aug. 28, compared to 247 cases on Aug. 21 which represents an 11.7 percent increase over the past week.

There is no available information regarding the number of patients who are hospitalized or who have recovered per town.

Since testing began, IDPH is reporting a total of 5,484 tests have been performed for ZIP code 60439.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, there have also been six coronavirus related deaths in Lemont since March 16. The deaths included one woman in her 50s, one woman in her 60s, one woman in her 70s, one man in his 60s, one man in his 70s and one woman in her 80s. The most recent death was reported on June 17.

DuPage County Health Department has also reported one coronavirus related death in Lemont.

As of Friday, Illinois' coronavirus case count was 229,483 and the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 7,997 Illinois residents.

The state has developed new resurgence criteria to identify early but significant increases of coronavirus transmission. With the new criteria, the state also developed new emergency management regions, and Lemont, as part of suburban Cook County, is now part of region 10.

According to IDPH, as of data available on Aug. 28, region 10 has had four days of test positivity increases and four days of hospital admission increases. The most recent data shows the positivity rate at 6.7 percent for the region. Hospital availability for region 10 has 28 percent of medical-surgical beds available and 33 percent of ICU beds available.
