LEMONT FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO CHECK HOME DEHUMIDIFIERS DUE TO RECALL; FIRE DANGER

The Lemont Fire Protection District would like to make residents aware of the recall for a large number of dehumidifiers of various makes and models. The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards. If you have a dehumidifier in your home, immediately turn it off and unplug it. To avoid the risk of fire, injury and property damage, the Fire District encourages residents to check their dehumidifiers to determine if it is one of the recalled units. Residents can reference the CPSC at www.cpsc.gov or www.recalls.gov and search their make and model to see if it is on the recall list then contact the manufacturer for a replacement or refund.
