Lemont Historical Society to Host an 'Evening in Oz'

Join the Lemont Historical Society, 306 Lemont Street, on Saturday, January 30 at 6 p.m. for a screening of the original 1925 silent version of “The Wizard of Oz” followed by the 1939 musical color film at 7:35 p.m. Come for one film or stay for both movies! Admission is $3 and movie refreshments will be available.

The story in the silent version differs dramatically from the 1939 musical version most people are familiar with, although both are loosely based on the L. Frank Baum children’s novel, “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” published in 1900. The audience should enjoy seeing the contrasting film styles and story lines of both films.
