Lemont Issues Local Curfew For Wednesday, Thursday

Police are also aware of a planned protest Sunday in Lemont, and are in contact with the organizers of the event.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont is once again enacting a local curfew in place for Wednesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights. The village said the curfew is "out of abundance of caution" and advised residents to stay off the roads so public safety officials can respond efficiently to incidents as they may arise.

Businesses are also advised to close by 9 p.m. each night and remain closed until 6 a.m., the village said.

There were once again no issues overnight in Lemont, and there continues to be no direct threat to the community, the village said.

"You may again notice tonight an increased police presence and areas of town blocked off with police and other vehicles around storefronts and plazas," the village said. "These are precautionary measures being put in place due to unrest we are seeing in the region. The Village continues to take these and other precautions to ensure the safety of Lemont residents and businesses."

The Lemont Police Department is also aware of a planned peaceful protest in Lemont on Sunday. The village said police are in contact with the organizers in order to better understand the time, location and overall nature of the event.
