Lemont Library Offers Seed Library For Patrons

LEMONT, IL — Not only can you check out books and other media at Lemont Library, you can also take heirloom vegetable seeds home.

Adult Services Librarian Justin Williams told Patch the seed library was started in August.

"The library aims to provide a place for our community to come together and learn traditional practices of growing our own food, as well as saving varieties of plants that may possibly become extinct in our future," William said.

Since the start of the seed library, over 60 packets of seeds have been taken by patrons. You can find the seed library in the adult non-fiction section.
