Lemont Man, 78, Charged In Student's Hit And Run

LEMONT, IL — A Lemont man has been charged after a hit and run involving a juvenile pedestrian on Thursday afternoon, police said. Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash at 2:48 p.m. Thursday. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital and has been released.

Through their investigation, police said detectives located the driver, James Connelly, 78, of the 600 block of Singer, and took him into custody. Connelly was charged with one felony count of failure to stop after an accident involving injury. He was also charged with no valid driver's license, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and failure to give aid and information.

Connelly was processed and taken to Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing.
