Lemont Native Gets Shot With Chicago Blackhawks

Goaltender Scott Darling is the newest member of the NHL.

Lemont native Scott Darling, a prospect in the Chicago Blackhawks organization, has been promoted from their minor league affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, to the NHL club. Darling, 25, was added to the Blackhawks active roster after appearing in 29 career AHL games.

The Blackhawks announced Tuesday that they have recalled goaltender Darling from the American Hockey League. He will wear number 33 for the Blackhawks.

Darling—who attended Lemont High School from 2003–2004, and again in 2005—has never appeared in a regular-season NHL game, but has earned a 15-6-2 record in his AHL career with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage, according to the Chicago Blackhawks website.

Darling signed as a free agent with the Blackhawks on July 1, 2014. He was originally selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the sixth round, 153rd overall, of the 2007 NHL Draft.

He has appeared in two games this season with Rockford, racking up a 2-0-0 record with a 1.44 goals-against average and .948 save percentage. He also played in two preseason contests with Chicago, stopping all 27 shots on goal en route to two wins in 91 minutes of action.
