Lemont Park District Day Campers Visit Community Garden

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Park District Day Camp participants spent a little time gardening this summer. The camp visited the Lemont Township Community Garden on July 31 and campers learned about gardening and harvesting fresh vegetables.

The park district said campers enjoyed an afternoon of picking a variety of fresh vegetables
and planting a vegetable or flowers to take home to grow. Each camper was able to decorate a
tile that are part of wooden mosaics which will be displayed at the Lemont Township to showcase the beauty and diversity displayed through collective community.

All harvested vegetables from the garden were donated to the Lemont Food Pantry to be distributed to local families.
