Lemont Park District Participates In Energy Conservation Program

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Park District's CORE facility will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday as it participates in an energy reduction program. According to the park district's Facebook page, the district participates in Direct Energy's response incentive program which focuses on energy conservation.
There are two ways to participate in the incentive program. According to the park district, the district could agree to reduce energy at the CORE during peak times or if it is not called upon to reduce energy, it can participate in a response test each year.
This year, the test will take place over three hours, and the CORE will be the only building affected. By participating in this program, the park district saves up to 10 percent in annual energy costs, it said on its Facebook page.
