National Drug Prescription Take Back Day provides a safe and responsible way to dispose of your unused or expired prescription drugs.

LEMONT, IL — Lemont Police Department will be participating in National Drug Prescription Take Back Day, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 24.
According to the department, National Drug Prescription Take Back Day provides a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of your unused or expired prescription drugs. Improper disposal of medications can lead to abuse of these drugs or accidental exposures to children and pets.
Flushing medications down the toilet can kill helpful bacteria in the septic systems and pass largely untouched sewage treatment plants, contaminate groundwater, streams, rivers and lakes.
