Lemont Recognizes LHS Rho Kappa Honor Society

LEMONT, IL — The village of Lemont honored the LHS Rho Kappa National Social Studies and History Honor Society at its May 13 board meeting. Mayor John Egofske presented the society with a certificate of appreciation for promoting and preserving Lemont's history.

The honor society is in its first year and has 42 members. Egofske said the society's mission is to spread awareness and appreciation for history and its role in daily lives.

"As part of their community service, members of Rho Kappa have been volunteering their time after school at village hall to aid us in a record retention program," Egofske said. Volunteers donated 40 hours of time since February to help with the program.
