Lemont Resident Needs Help Making Business Dream Come True

Kathleen Gibson is SO close to opening her bakery.

Kathleen Gibson’s love of baked goods traces back to time spent with her grandmother, and the Lemont newcomer hopes to share that passion with the community—but she needs your help.

Gibson has been attempting to open Sinfully Delicious Cupcakes and Treats, but has hit some unforeseen setbacks. She is turning to her new community in hopes they can support her sweet dream.

“Due to some unforeseen set backs, and an investor having to back out due to a personal issue, we are left needing some funding for my dream,” Gibson wrote in a GoFundMe for her business. “We are so close, needing inventory and equipment. I have invested so much time and money and to come this close and have to stop is heartbreaking.”

If you’ve been lucky enough to meet Gibson, perhaps she’s told you about her time spent in the kitchen as a young girl.

“My grandmother taught me to bake and gave me her love of baking,” Gibson said. “Every time I am in the kitchen, she is with me.”

She’ll rattle off her resume, which includes 19 years in city government, direct sales for 5 years, and vendor shows. Her baked goods have been sold by private order for more than five years. Sinfully Delicious would—or if you ask her, will—be her first established bakery. She plans to offer cupcakes, cookies, brownies, donuts, coffee cakes, ice cream, novelty candy, baking supplies.

“I have always dreamed of owning my own bakery and ice cream parlor,” Gibson told Patch in a previous interview. “To have that old-fashioned feeling the minute you enter the door. It is a dream coming true.”
