Lemont Unveils New Brand, Logo
The logo was designed around the village's scenery, recreational opportunities, history, spirit, and small-town charm.

The Village of Lemont revealed a new brand strategy and logo at the Village Board meeting Monday night.
In 2014, in order to help maximize the effectiveness of local economic development initiatives, the village initiated a comprehensive and collaborative effort to establish a cohesive brand strategy that can be used by all stakeholders in Lemont. The effort culminated in the creation of a brand strategy and logo designed to convey the value and nature of the community’s distinctive characteristics.
The brand strategy defines the strengths and attributes that make Lemont unique. It focuses on six key features that exemplify the Lemont experience: beautiful scenery, recreational opportunities, rich history, pioneering spirit, small-town charm, and a spirit of community.

“We wanted to be sure we described the physical, concrete advantages of Lemont — the scenery and recreational opportunities — while also evoking the heart of the village: its people,” explains Charity Jones, Director of Economic Planning and Development for the Village of Lemont. “We wanted to tell the story of the generations of residents who have made their lives here. Now we have a solid, well-articulated foundation for the Lemont brand story that celebrates who we are and what our aspirations are.”
The new logo for the village features carefully chosen attributes to symbolize Lemont’s finest qualities. The “L” monogram symbolizes a village nestled in the hills. The keystone motif represents a sense of community and, along with the limestone color, is a nod to Lemont’s rich history and pioneering spirit. The color blue was chosen to evoke the iconic skyline, while the green colors symbolize Lemont’s scenery, natural resources and recreational opportunities.

Developing these tools was necessarily a collaborative effort from beginning to end, and was led by a brand steering committee consisting of representatives from the Village of Lemont, Lemont Township, Lemont Park District, and Lemont Chamber of Commerce.
“The collaboration of these groups demonstrates their willingness to come together on a strategic initiative aimed at benefitting the entire community of Lemont,” explains Mayor Brian Reaves for the Village of Lemont. “At the end of the day, we all have the same shared vision. We want Lemont to be successful in attracting and keeping residents, businesses, and visitors. “
Working with local marketing firm Pelen Consulting and creative design firm Wohltgroup, the steering committee participated in numerous work sessions; conducted more than 50 one-on-one interviews with a variety of stakeholders; administered numerous focus groups; and considered 400+ responses to the village’s 2011 Community Visioning Survey. All of the feedback was compiled and reworked to establish a brand strategy and logo that capture the essence of Lemont. “We are grateful to everyone who assisted in the process, and we hope everyone will join us in enthusiastically telling Lemont’s story” said Paul Chialdikas, Village of Lemont Trustee Liaison for Economic Development.
The Village of Lemont has a population of less than 17,000 residents. It is located 25 miles southwest of Chicago within the Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Area.
