Lemont Woman, 53, Made 'Everyone Around Her Smile'
Sandra Cody died April 6. Visitation and funeral will be held Friday and Saturday.

Sandra Cody, 53, of the Lemont/Plainfield area, died peacefully with family by her side while her favorite music was playing softly in the background, Monday evening, April 6.
She was born May 14, 1961 to Mary Alice and the late Patrick Moore.
She will be deeply missed, yet never forgotten by her many friends and very grateful family including her husband, Scott Cody; son, Kenton; daughters, Megan (fiance, Carmen DePillo) and Dana; mother, Mary Alice Moore; partner, Julie Spadafora; siblings, Terry (Pat) Foley, Mike Moore (Barb), Mary Pat (Dave) Busher and Dennis (Amber) Moore; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her father, Patrick Moore; and her grandparents.
Sandy, a lover of life, had the ability to make everyone around her smile inside and out. She loved music, wrote jingles and in an instant could perform a song on a whim. She enjoyed entertaining so much. When she wasn’t rocking the band, she was rocking in her chair. She never missed a chance to be with her family and take over the kitchen. Everyone who met Sandy could see she was special and quickly realized how big a heart she had, which left a lasting impression on them. She was always laughing and made the days wonderful for all around her.
Funeral Services for Cody will be held Saturday, April 11, at 11:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S. Division Street (Rt. 59), Plainfield, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lung Cancer Research and Prevention would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. For more information: (815) 741-5500 or to visit her Book of Memories at www.fredcdames.com.
