LEMONT, IL — In just its second year of existence, the Lemont High School Winter Guard is having another successful season. The team competes in the Scholastic Regional A Class, and last year, the team was the champions of their division.

This year, at its first competition of the year, the group took first place at the Allegiance Show Jan. 25 in Algonquin.

The Winter Guard is coached by Ari Corbin, and it is her eighth year of working with the Color Guard at LHS. In the fall, the Color Guard performs with the marching band, while in the winter, the Winter Guard is just the team performing by themselves.

When asked how Corbin chooses music and makes a routine, she said, "We go based off of the kids we have, and what they're strong at."

"[This group] is so expressive, we found this song and played with it," Corbin said.

The Winter Guard team roster includes: Lindsey Gottardo, Ashley Herce, Alexis Hood, Daniel Irace, Nicolle Kucharowski, Elise Mandel, Shannon McCleary, Abigail Pacyga, Delaney Plotke, Abigail Polen, Kate Rosenblum, Sophia Scribano, Sharon Shew, Angela Sopher, Krystyna Sowa and Marina Zeglin.
