Lifelong Lemont Resident Honored as Senior Citizen of the Year
Frank Wozniak's contributions date back more than 30 years.

Lemont resident Frank Wozniak might have retired from his job after 45 years, but he hasn’t given up giving back to the community.
The Lemont High School alumni has been volunteering locally for more than 30 years—ranging from a trustee role on the Lemont Township Board, the Human Services Committee, and more—and was recently honored for his selflessness.
Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves nominated Wozniak as Senior Citizen of the Year, rewarded by Rep. Dan Lipinski with the title during a luncheon on Oct. 20.

Beginning on March 24, 1980, Frank is currently the longest elected official serving as Trustee on the Lemont Township Board; that’s 34 years. During his on-going term as a township trustee, Frank aided in the implementation of many programs and initiatives, such as the Human Services Committee, Meals and Services of the Homebound, Professional Nurses, Youth Services, Senior Citizens programs, Dial-A-Ride, Township Community Center, Township Open Space and the Dog Park—to name just a few.
On June 8, 1980, Frank was appointed Commissioner on the Liquor Control Review Board, where he serves as the longest appointed member; again for 34 years. The Liquor Board depends on his knowledge and expertise during the approval process, the Village said in a press release.

“Frank is especially supportive of business development and growth within the Village, and his common-sense nature always puts issues into perspective,” according to the release.
Wozniak served as a military police officer from 1953–1955, stationed at the military prison in Ft. Leavenworth, California. He was the Commander of Lemont American Legion Post 243 for 12 years. Although the Lemont post disbanded, he is a current member of the Lockport American Legion.
And you’ve probably seen him ushering at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, which he has graciously been doing for the past 42 years.
In 2003, Frank received the Cook County Sheriff Award for Volunteerism from Sheriff Michael Sheahan.
“We honor him today for his devotion and dedication to the Village of Lemont, the Township and to the residents of Lemont,” said Mayor Brian Reaves during the ceremony, “and are so very grateful for his passion, knowledge and most of all, his friendship.”
