"Lighting Up Lemont" Expands For Successful Second Year
Residents and visitors to the downtown area can enjoy the light display through Jan. 5.

LEMONT, IL — If you haven't stopped by downtown Lemont to see the holiday lights yet, you're missing out. In its second year, "Lighting Up Lemont" has expanded beyond the grassy area on Main Street which was decorated for last year's holiday season.
The village said the expansion was due to the overwhelming, positive responses from residents and visitors who came to see the display last year. This holiday season, the village of Lemont teamed up with the Downtown Merchants Alliance for a full-blown illuminated lighting display.
“The increased amount of visitors that this would bring into town was a major factor," George Schafer, village administrator, sai din a release. "It’s an opportunity to bring in more people to shop, dine and enjoying the uniqueness of our town.”
