Meet Patch Mayor Amy Selle: 'I Love Community Journalism'
"There's still a little reporter in me who wants to tell local stories."

LEMONT, IL — Lemont Patch Mayor Amy Selle loves Lemont. Her love for the town and for community journalism inspired her to be a Patch Mayor.
"My undergraduate degree is in journalism, and even though I work in marketing and advertising, there's still a little reporter in me who wants to tell local stories," Selle said.
Selle is very involved in the community, at her church and with Lemont High School. Patch had a chat with Selle recently so we could help you meet her, too.

What she loves about Lemont: I love so many things about Lemont! I enjoy the unique terrain (hills), all of the church steeples, the various waterways and quarries, the forest preserves, the small-town feel, the proximity to Chicago and other suburbs, etc., but what I am loving the most right now is our Blue Ribbon high school. I love the size of the school, the cleanliness of the campus, the high-communication style of the faculty, the academic and extracurricular programs - everything. We are such a fortunate community to have such an amazing high school for our youth to attend.
Best place to eat in Lemont: The best place to eat in Lemont is at my friend Jennifer Albrecht's house! (But please don't show up at her house.) My favorite Lemont restaurant is Rustic Knead on State Street, but El Burrito Jr. (also on State Street) is also a go-to for the Selle family.

Best place to visit in Lemont: It's hard to pick one "best place to visit" in Lemont. Right now I love walking my dog at the Lemont Heritage Woodland Sanctuary adjacent to the Lemont Township community center at 16300 Alba St. It's a beautiful restored prairie with walking paths that wind all throughout. It's where I go to get my nature fix.
A Lemont hidden gem: A hidden gem in Lemont is the award-winning Lemont High School Marching Band. They are an amazing group of uber-talented young people with tons of drive. They will be hosting a community showcase performance this Saturday, Aug. 18 from 12-4 pm at the Lemont High School Football Stadium. Entry is free for everyone and there will also be food vendors, raffles, and activities for the whole family. During the event, the band will perform a movement from its upcoming Fall 2018 competitive marching season as well as fan favorites for the crowd to enjoy.
