Old Quarry Cheerleading Named 2023 State Champions
This is the fourth state championship since 2018 for the cheerleading program.
LEMONT, IL — The Old Quarry Middle School cheerleading team are the 2023 medium team routine state champions after Wednesday's IESA state final competition in Peoria.
The team took first place in the medium routine division, which is for teams with 13 to 16 members.
"The team had an amazing feat, taking first place in the Medium Routine Division with a score of 90.7," Coach Brianna Paczkowski, adding that the score is the highest score at the state competition in school history.

Lemont; Highland Middle School, with a score of 86.90; and Jacksonville Middle School, with a score of 83.48, rounded out the top three teams in the medium team routine division.
"The IESA state competition concluded an incredible season for the Old Quarry Varsity cheer team," Paczkowski said. "Prior to the state competition, the team took home multiple first place trophies at invitationals and titled conference champions for the ninth consecutive season. They are an incredibly hard-working and dedicated group of athletes and well-deserving champions!"

This is the fourth state championship for Old Quarry in recent years. The team placed second in 2022, and were the state champions in 2020, 2019 and 2018. There was no competition in 2021 due to COVID-19.
