Get a glimpse of activities ahead for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

With the start of the school year just around the corner, Old Quarry Middle School is getting ready for an exciting school year. The school year will kick off with the annual Back to School Night on Monday, August 18, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade parents and students. The evening will provide parents an opportunity to meet their students’ teachers, see classrooms, and get a feel of a mini school schedule. Parents will also have an opportunity to meet Dr. Courtney Orzel, Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A’s new Superintendent.
“I am very excited to start the school year,” said Dr. William Caron, principal of Old Quarry. “We have been very busy this summer with scheduling, hiring excellent new staff members, and our custodians have done an amazing job of making the school look beautiful for our students.”
Dr. Caron stressed that the focus of the 2015 school year will be on the students’ academic growth, social-emotional growth, and physical activity. “We will be kicking the year off focusing on taking care of each other academically, emotionally, and physically. I encourage our students to get actively involved in classroom discussions and projects, extracurricular clubs and sports, and community activities.”
