Park District, Lemont Junior Woman's Club Recognized For Partnership

The partnership included fundraising for the LJWC playground at Centennial Park, which opened in 2021.

LEMONT, IL — The Illinois Association of Park District has awarded the Best of the Best 2022 partnership award to the Lemont Park District and the Lemont Junior Woman's Club.

The award was presented to both organizations at the "Best of the Best Awards Gala" on Oct. 14 in Wheeling.

The award recognizes non-governmental organizations that have collaborated with a park district, forest preserve, or special recreation agency, and enabled it to begin a major capital improvement program, or pursue a campaign or project that enhanced quality of life for residents that wouldnt've been possible without the partnership.

The park district said that the Lemont Junior Woman's Club committed raising $30,000 in 2017 to assist in funding the new LJWC playground at Centennial Park. The club reached its goal over three years, raising $10,000 in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

"The Lemont Park District could not have been more pleased to partner with such a great organization on the renovation of the LJWC Park which was completed in October of 2021," the park district said. "The District will forever be grateful for LJWC’s commitment to raise funds to assist in this initiative. In working together, the Lemont Junior Woman’s Club and the Lemont Park District brought another premier park to the children in the community that will have a lasting effect for years to come.
