Park District Working On Plan For Sports Program Options

The park district said that staff is working on planning measures to enable the district to still offer its sports programming.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Park District recently gave an update to the community on current operations, including its preschool academy and plans for its sports leagues and programs.

New guidance and restrictions for youth and adult recreational sports will go into effect on Aug. 15. With the new guidance, sports have been broken down by risk level and an associated level of play which allows for different levels of competition. For example, football is considered a higher risk sport which means it can play at level 1, which only allows for no-contact practices and training.

The park district said in its update that staff is working on planning measures to enable the district to still offer its sports programming.

The park district will be releasing more information about specific activities to participants.

Preschool Academy

In-person classes at the Lemont Preschool Academy will resume as scheduled for ages 3 to 5 years old. The park district said families will have the option of a full remote learning curriculum.

The academy's two-year-old class will be held fully remote.

"The Lemont Park District will continue to closely monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation and expand offerings where possible when state and federal guidelines permit," the park district said in its update.
