A $50 donation buys you an evening of fine art, food, drink, cabaret, music, raffles and prizes as the Lemont Center for the Arts celebrates its 5th anniversary from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 17 in the museum of the Lithuanian World Center on 127th Street east of State Street.
The village’s art commission and volunteers have arranged for classes in some Lemont schools that have no arts program; created the beautiful mosaic work on the bridge over the I&M Canal; crafted the large mosaic planters in downtown Lemont that depict village history; adorned downtown buildings with murals commemorating notable village events; and provide children’s art activities at Lemont festivals.
The Lemont Center for the Arts (between Aldi’s and Jeffrey LaMorte salon on State Street) offers a new art exhibit each month. The gallery and artisan boutique are open on weekends and admission is free.
