Police Blotter: Domestic Battery, Leaving Scene of Accident, Traffic Infractions

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lemont Police Department Jan. 28 – Feb. 3. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Jan. 28

Suspended License, No Insurance, No Lights

James F. Smith, 64, of the 1300 block of Pequot St. in Joliet, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. at Archer Ave. and State St. He was charged with driving while license is suspended, no insurance and driving without lights when required. Smith was issued a Feb. 15 court date in Bridgeview.

Domestic Battery, Unlawful Interference

Ryan A. Flores, 25, of the 9800 block of Cordoba Court in Orland Park, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Crestview Drive. He was charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of unlawful interference in the reporting of domestic violence. Flores appeared in the Bridgeview Court House for a bond hearing.

According to Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy, complaints were signed against Flores in a previous incident of domestic battery and he was charged Jan. 28 in another incident.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

Suspended License, No Insurance

Stanley J. Bobek, 51, of the 13000 block of Smith Road in Lockport, was arrested at 10:47 p.m. in the 900 block of State St. and charged with driving while license is suspended an no insurance. Bobek was issued a Feb. 15 court date in Bridgeview.

Thursday, Jan. 31

Suspended License, Expired Registration

Katrina Amos, 33, of Lilac Lane in Willowbrook, was arrested at 8:45 a.m. at Archer Ave. and 127th St. She was charged with driving while license is suspended and expired registration, and was issued a March 5 court date in Bridgeview.

Saturday, Feb. 2

Leaving Scene of Accident

Michael Pietruszka, 27, of the 7900 block of Knottingham Circle in Darien, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. at Illinois and Stephen streets. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to give information and was issued a March 27 court date in Bridgeview.

Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy said Pietruszka was involved in a property damage-only crash in which he struck a moving vehicle and left the scene. No injuries were reported by either party, and Pietruszka later turned himself in to Lemont police and posted bond on the charges, Shaughnessy said.

Sunday, Feb. 3

Suspended License, No Insurance or Registration

Nathan L. Wachowiak, 22, of the 400 block of Talcott Ave., was arrested at 10:48 p.m. at Main and Fourth streets. He was charged with driving while license is suspended, no insurance and no valid registration. Wachowiak was issued a March 27 court date in Bridgview.

Members of the public are reminded that these complaints contain only charges and are not proof of the defendant’s guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
