Quarry, I&M Canal Walking Tour Planned Sept. 16
Learn about Lemont limestone, the quarry industry and the construction of the I&M Canal.

LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Area Historical Society will hold a walking tour discussing the quarries and Illinois and Michigan Canal from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 16.
A tour guide will take you through the history of Lemont limestone, the quarry industry and its workers, and the construction and use of the I&M canal, according to the historical society. Historical photos will also be shown.
The tour is 3/4 mile on a crushed gravel/mulch trail, with some inclines. You will meet at the I&M canal trail in the first parking area of the Lemont Heritage quarries.

It is $10 per adult, $7 per senior, and $5 per child. You pay at the event, with cash or check only.
Sept. 23 will be the rain date for this tour.
