2nd Franciscan Village Associate Positive For Coronavirus
The associate last worked in the facility on April 13, and informed the facility they had tested positive for the coronavirus on April 20.
LEMONT, IL — A second associate has tested positive for the coronavirus at Franciscan Village, Franciscan Ministries said. In an update on its website, President and CEO Judy Amiano said the associate last worked in the facility on April 13.
Amiano said the associate was tested and informed Franciscan Village of the result on Monday.
"Due to the strict guidelines and procedures enforced in accordance with the CDC and the IDPH for social distancing and prevention of the spread of the virus, there was limited exposure for both associates and residents," Amiano wrote in an update.

This is the fourth case at Franciscan Village; two residents and two workers have now tested positive. The two residents were at Franciscan Village Mother Theresa Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The first positive case at the facility occurred in March. A 65-year-old woman died March 26 at University of Chicago Medical Center as a result of septic shock due to the coronavirus infection with high blood pressure, psoriatic arthritis and complications of right knee surgery as contributing factors.

The first employee, who worked in Mother Theresa Skill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, was tested for the coronavirus March 30 and received positive results. The second resident was taken to Silver Cross Hospital April 16, and tested positive for the coronavirus at the hospital on April 17.
In Cook County, IDPH is reporting there are 808 cases of coronavirus in long-term care facilities and 146 related deaths.
