Senior Fair Planned At Lemont CORE

LEMONT, IL — State Senator John Curran and State Representative John Egofske will host a free senior health fair at the Lemont Park District CORE Fitness Center on Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The CORE is located at 16050 W. 127th St.

"This free outreach event allows seniors the chance to gain helpful information and connect with their peers and representatives," Curran said in a release. “Whether you’re looking for a convenient health screening or just want to enjoy some refreshments and conversation, we hope you will join us for this community event.”

Participants include healthcare, government, senior living groups, community organizations and more.

"This Senior Fair is a fantastic way for seniors to get up to date on their immunizations, safely dispose of their prescription drugs, and speak with dozens of vendors about topics ranging from safe driving habits to how state agencies can better serve them," Egofske said in a release. “I look forward to seeing everyone there!”

At the event, medical professionals will be offering a variety of screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, flu shots, balance screening, colon cancer screening, fall risk assessment, body mass index, cholesterol screening and more.

A multitude of vendors will be on-site to work with local seniors on helpful topics such as driving classes, utility savings, and assisted living opportunities. Attendees are also encouraged to bring unwanted prescription drugs and flags for proper disposal.
