SS. Cyril and Methodius students and staff celebrated their 2nd annual ”Jesus Day” or ”J-Day 2” for short on Thursday, March 26. The celebrations began with a whole school assembly in the gymnasium. Students read different scripture readings while a guest speaker came to provide insight about each of the readings, focusing the discussion on the power of love, the power of forgiveness, and the power of caring for others. The choir members led the school in song and each member of the school assembly brought up a non perishable food item to be offered to the local food pantry. Over the past few weeks of lent, school children also collected money for the ”Change for Change” mission to promote giving to others to see a positive change in the world. Staff and students presented this monetary collection along with the food offering at the ceremony. Winners of the schools’ ”Jesus Day” coloring contest were also announced at the close of the assembly.
