Holy Thursday took on a new meaning for members of the Hearts and Hands Club of St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School when the club leader, Ashley Palmer stopped by the Mount Assisi Convent and Alvernia Manor to drop off Easter baskets for the sisters.
The Hearts and Hands Club coordinated filling 31 baskets with homemade cards, art work, and letters created by the students at St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School. Palmer started the club to thank those that serve in the community by creating gratitude gifts. This year, five students in grades 4-7 participated in the group creating prayer stones, dog biscuits for an animal shelter, and Easter baskets.
"It's important to give back to the people that serve our community. We want to share our thanks from our heart by creating with our hands," says Palmer.
