St. James Church Celebrates 185 Years
Both the St. James Church and cemetery are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

LEMONT, IL — The St. James at Sag Bridge Church celebrated its 185th anniversary on Oct. 28. The church, located at 10600 S. Archer Ave., in Lemont held an anniversary Mass at the church and then a celebration at Cog Hill.
According to the church's website, it was founded in 1833 and is the sole country parish of the Archdiocese of Chicago. The church has gone through many changes over its history, and it even suffered tornado damage in 1991.
According to the church, both the St. James Church and cemetery are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as historic sites of outstanding significance by the National Park Service.
