Township Plans Earth Day Event

LEMONT, IL — The coronavirus pandemic prevented the gathering last year for Earth Day’s big 50th Birthday, so the township is holding a belated birthday celebrated this year. The Township is planning this year’s Earth Day celebration to include activities for nature lovers of all ages.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on May 1 at the Heritage Woodland Sanctuary, 16300 Alba St.

Activities include: butterfly and conservation education, home native landscape talks by prairie experts Pizzo and associates, and the kick-off for monthly prairie cleanups.

Co-sponsors include the Forge, Lemont Junior Woman’s Club and Pizzo & Associates.
