1 Dead After Vehicle Struck By Amtrak Train Near Lemont: Reports
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon.
LEMONT, IL — An Amtrak train struck a vehicle near Lemont, killing the driver of the vehicle, CBS News reported.
Metra trains on the Heritage Corridor line faced delays on Wednesday afternoon due to the incident, according to Metra service alerts. According to the alert, one of the trains was operating behind schedule due to an Amtrak train hitting a vehicle.
CBS reported that the cab of the truck that was hit by the train was sheared off and dragged about a quarter mile along the track.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office lists a report from 11202 Boyer, in Lemont, but there are no further details on the person who was killed.
