Veterans Day 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Lemont
There are several events around town that will celebrate veterans and their service.

LEMONT, IL — Veterans Day this year is Saturday, Nov. 11. Several events will be held in Lemont to honor those who have served. Since the day falls on a Saturday this year, schools will not have a day off.
What's Open? What's Closed for Veterans Day?
- Banks: Most are closed. Call your bank if you're thinking of stopping by.
- Post Offices: Closed
- Federal Offices: Closed
- Village Offices: Lemont Village Offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10.
- Trash Pickup: Normal
- Most restaurants will be open, some will offer discount to active military personnel and veterans.

- The Lemont Public Library will hold a family-friendly tribute to veterans at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. There will be a short musical play followed by a performance by the River Valley and Old Quarry band. If you know a veteran, please invite them. Registration is required for this event.
Park District Luncheon
- On Friday, Nov. 10, the Lemont Park District is inviting all active and retired military personnel to their Veterans Day 'Thank You' Luncheon. Guests can join for lunch, a guest speaker, music and recognition for veterans and active military. The event will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 at the CORE, 16028 W. 127th St. All attendees must register in advance. Veterans are free, as well as a guest.
Township, VFW Hold Veterans Day Ceremony

- The Lemont VFW Post 5819 and Lemont Township will host a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11. The event will begin at 11 a.m., and you should gather at the Veteran Memorial at Main and Lemont streets for the ceremony. The post party will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the VFW, 15780 New Ave. There will be food, drinks, music and raffles. A fundraising effort will be held to raise money for the construction of a new memorial wall at the Lemont Township Community Center.
