Walleye Fingerlings Introduced Into Lemont Quarry
The village recently entered into a cooperative fishery management agreement with the IDNR.
LEMONT, IL — Walleye fingerlings have been introduced to the Great Lakes Quarry in the Heritage Quarry Recreation Area in Lemont, as a result of work between the village and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
According to the village's Facebook page, the village recently entered into a cooperative fishery management agreement with the IDNR to assist in managing fishing activities in the quarries.
The program also included an evaluation of Great Lakes Quarry along with recommendations for rules and regulations about fishing in the quarries, the village shared.

As part of the program, the village and IDNR evaluated and monitored the species of fish in the quarries and introduced the Walleye. The stocking program of Walleye will continue for the next several years to ensure growth and sustainability of the fish, the village said.
