Wanted: Lemont Park District Memorabilia from the Last 50 Years

Help the park district celebrate a major milestone!

—Submitted by the Lemont Park District

Why is the big “5-0" popping up all over Lemont Park District’s Centennial Campus? In less than a month, the Makers of Memories will be celebrating the agency’s 50th anniversary. Flashback to 1966: a group of Lemont residents band together with a mission and a vision to make a difference. This dream became a wonderful reality and LPD continues to blossom year after year. The Lemont Park District was officially incorporated on April 16, 1966, and has been supporting the community ever since.

In honor of the District’s 50th, staff has prepared a grand celebration. The festivities will last the entire year with the theme of “All you need is FUN!” apparent in all the fun programs and activities planned. The Annual Independence Day Extravaganza on July 3rd will also include some extra special amenities. We hope the community is enjoying this fun journey through time!

From Early childhood and Preschool programs to various youth sports and classes to aquatics, fitness and parks, the Lemont Park District has something for everyone. For many years, residents have looked to the park district for entertainment, education, fitness and FUN! So many memories have been made and the Lemont Park District would love to hear about them!

To pay tribute to the last 50 years of the Lemont Park District, the agency is looking to collect memorabilia from the community to display at various events throughout the rest of the year. Also, a time capsule will be created and sealed housing some fun memories of the past 50 years.

So, what is LPD looking for? Perhaps you have the first ever Freedom Run medal, a preschool certificate from the '80s, an old staff shirt from the '70s or something else that represents memories made at The Lemont Park District.

If you have something that you’d like to be showcased during the celebration, please contact Sales and Marketing Director Carrie Dellamano at carrie-dellamano@lemontparkdistrict.org or call 630-257-6787. Memorabilia can be dropped off at The CORE and put to the attention of Carrie. Please be sure to put your name, phone number and email address on all materials.
