Year in Review: How Lemont Voted in 2012
As part of our Year in Review, here's a look back at how Lemont residents cast their votes in the past year.
Lemont voters seem to have an independent streak, whether it's choosing candidates or saying yes or no to ballot initiatives.
In March, 58.6 percent of Lemont voters cast ballots in favor of electricity aggregation, while voters in nearby Will County defeated a similar measure by 59.49 percent.

In the March 20, primary election, Incumbent State Rep. Jim Durkin defeated Lemont resident Laura Reigle in the 82nd District, while Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno easily moved on in her uncontested race. In the 3rd Congressional District, Richard Grabowski nabbed the GOP nomination, defeating Jim Falvey and Art Jones to face incumbent Democrat Dan Lipinski in November.

On Nov. 6, the nation elected Barack Obama to a second term as president. But in Lemont, voters didn’t follow the national trend – opting instead for Mitt Romney in 12 out of 14 precincts.

Who's on the ballot in 2013?
It will be an incumbents-only election for Lemont Village Board this spring, as Mayor Brian Reaves is running unopposed, as are clerk Charlene Smollen and trustees Paul Chialdikas, Clifford Miklos and Jeanette Virgilio. The same goes for Lemont High School District 210, where incumbents Mike Kardas, George Rimbo and Mike Shackel will face no challengers April 9.
As for the Lemont-Bromberek District 113A Board of Education, five candidates, Susan Petrarca, David Deitemyer, Brian Bushnell, Michael Clausen and Patrick M. Kerrigan II, will vie for three open seats.
