1 Critically Injured In Motorcycle Crash In Mettawa
The collision happened in a parking lot in the 25900 block of Riverwoods Road in Mettawa.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 55-year-old Wadsworth man was critically injured after he crashed his motorcycle in a parking lot over the weekend, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The collision happened at about 6:10 p.m. on Saturday in the 25900 block of Riverwoods Road in Mettawa.
A preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Honda Gold Wing motorcycle was driving in the parking lot when he, for an unknown reason, accelerated at a "high rate of speed," causing the front wheel of the motorcycle to "rise from the roadway," according to the news release.
The driver then lost control of the motorcycle and crashed, authorities said. He was not wearing a helmet and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
