Authorities said drugs or alcohol could have been a factor in the collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The semi did not stop following the crash, and authorities have not yet spoken with the semi driver, Illinois State Police Trooper Duane Chappell wrote Patch in an e-mail response.
