1 Dead In Shooting Near Gurnee
Authorities are investigating the homicide, which occurred Friday night in unincorporated Gurnee.
GURNEE, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend near Gurnee. Deputies responded at about 9:50 p.m. Friday to a home in the 36900 block of North Grandwood Drive in unincorporated Gurnee and found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The man, who lived at the home on North Grandwood Drive, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A preliminary investigation shows the man was shot by a person who he'd just met near the roadway, close to his home, according to the news release. The shooter then fled the scene police said.

Police do not believe the shooting was a random act and think that the shooter and the man who was killed likely knew each other, according to authorities.
The Lake County Coroner's Office is scheduling an autopsy, and the shooting remains under investigation.
