100-Year-Old Libertyville Home Damaged In Blaze
The home, which has undergone several renovations over the years, was under construction at the time of the blaze early Sunday.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – A blaze over the weekend damaged a 100-year-old home in Libertyville that was under construction, fire officials said. Firefighters were first called to the blaze in the 300 block of Lake Street at 12:34 a.m. Sunday by a resident on Cook Street who called to report smoke in the area.
Firefighters first at the scene found a large hole burned through the first floor of the home. Minutes later, the fire spread to the second floor and attic. The "balloon-type construction" allowed the blaze to travel through several void spaces in the home, which made it difficult for firefighters to access the fire.
The home, which is over 100 years old, has underwent several renovations over the years.
