LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A $1 million gift from an anonymous donor will mean St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville will be able to continue to preach in its 100-year-old building instead of selling it.

The church at 125 W. Church St., across the street from Cook Park, fell on hard times after adding an addition onto the church in the early 2000s. The church, which has about 80 households in its congregation, put the building up for sale in 2018 to pay off its debt, according to the Daily Herald.
