2 BMWs Stolen From Libertyville Driveway: Police

A handful of vehicles were reported stolen in the days before Christmas, including two BMWs from the same driveway.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Reports of stolen vehicles and drunken driving arrests are among the issues handled by Libertyville Police Department officers in recent weeks. Here is a look at some of those reports and arrests:

Theft of Motor Vehicle

The owner of a white 2016 Mercedes-Benz told police her sedan was stolen from her driveway in the 1300 block of Canterbury Circle between 1:15 and 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 22. She said her sedan was left unlocked and with the key in the vehicle .

Theft of Motor Vehicles

Two BMW sedans were stolen from a driveway in the 1300 block of Canterbury Circle between 12 and 6:45 a.m. on Dec. 22. One was a black 2012 BMW sedan and the other was a black 2018 BMW sedan, according to the police report.

Theft of Motor Vehicle

Police officers found a white Infiniti SUV on Dec. 22 that appeared to be abandoned in the road near Claridge Drive and Sussex Lane. Officers got ahold of the owner and learned the SUV had been stolen from his driveway in the 700 block of Thomas Court late on Dec. 21 or early on Dec. 22.

DUI

A 40-year-old Lake Bluff woman faces a drunken driving charge after being pulled over in Libertyville on Dec. 31, authorities said. Crystall Townsley, of the 29000 block of East Waukegan Road has also been cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

Police say they witnessed a grey Mercedes-Benz at 4:55 p.m. on Dec. 21 after it turned right at East Church Street and North Milwaukee Avenue while the light was red and despite signage posted at the intersection. They pulled the vehicle over in the 600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.

After Townsley showed signs of impairment, she was asked to complete field sobriety tests, and was then taken into custody, according to the police report. She was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device and a $3,000 personal recognizance bond was issued. She is next expected in court on Jan. 8.

Warrant Arrest

A Grayslake man was arrested on a warrant after officers found his vehicle running and unoccupied at two local businesses. An officer on patrol in the area of Industrial and Tempel drives at 8:36 a.m. on Dec. 28 saw the vehicle first parked and running in the driveway of a business in the 1800 block of Industrial Drive. The officer conducted a registration check on the vehicle and found it was registered to Eddie G. Jackson, 24, who had an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear out of Lake County.

The officer saw a man, who matched the description listed on the warrant, return to the vehicle and then drive to another business where he parked the vehicle.

Police took Jackson into custody inside the business. He was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail to await a bond hearing.
