3 Fugitives Arrested During Holiday Traffic Campaign
Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff's Office were out in full force over the holidays.

LAKE COUNTY, IL -- The Lake County Sheriff’s Office apprehended three fugitives during its holiday traffic campaign and handed out citations to and arrested several more. Deputies provided additional traffic enforcement from Dec. 17 through Jan. 2. In addition to the fugitive arrests, deputies issued the following the citations or made the following arrests during the 16-traffic safety campaign:
- 2 DUI arrests
- 78 seat belt citations
- 40 speeding citations
- 9 suspended/revoked licenses
- 8 uninsured motorists
- 3 fugitives apprehended
- 23 other citations
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined the Lake County Division of Transportation, Illinois State Police, and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and deaths through public information, arresting impaired drivers, and issuing seat belt and other vehicle code violations.
“While this specific traffic safety campaign might be over, our Sheriff’s Deputies will remain vigilant to locate and arrest impaired drivers,” Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said. “Drunk driving is extremely dangerous. I can’t stress it enough, if you’ve had too much to drink, or have consumed drugs, don’t get behind the wheel.”
