$500K Bail For Woman Charged In Hit-And-Run Fatality
Amanda Cisneros-Elacio, 20, faces a charge in connection with the October crash that killed Wojciech Glowik, 22, of Glenview.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 20-year-old Prospect Heights woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that took "hundreds of investigative hours" to solve, authorities said Tuesday.
Amanda Cisneros-Elacio, of the 800 block of East Old Willow Road in Prospect Heights, is in custody on a $500,000 bail in connection with the October crash that claimed the life of 22-year-old Wojciech Glowik of Glenview. She is charged with failure to report an accident causing death.
A warrant for Cisneros-Elacio's arrest was issued Monday before investigators took her into custody at her home, according to police.

Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said if Cesneros-Elacio would've stopped and called 911 to report the incident, instead of fleeing the crash scene, Glowik may still be alive.
“I am very proud of our traffic crash investigators and sheriff’s detectives who were relentless in their pursuit to locate the person responsible for leaving the scene of this deadly crash. If the driver had only stopped and called for help, maybe the young man who died would have had an opportunity to survive," he said. "I hope this arrest provides the victim’s family with the first steps toward closure.”

At about 2:10 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2021, Glowik was walking along the side of U.S. 45 in Indian Creek when he was hit by a car driving southeast. The driver sped away after hitting him, police said.
Vernon Hills police responded to the scene and took Glowik to a local hospital, where he died two days later from blunt force trauma caused by the crash, the coroner's office confirmed.
Days later, authorities seized a vehicle, a white Audi SUV, they linked back to the crash at a body shop in Wheeling.
According to a release, staff at the body shop saw news reports on the type of vehicle officials were looking for, specifically one that had damage to the front area and was missing a passenger side mirror.
"After seeing the damage on the Audi Q5, the employees believed it was likely the vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run crash," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "They then contacted the Lake County Sheriff's Office."
According to officials, pieces of the vehicle left at the scene matched the pieces missing from the vehicle in the body shop. Investigators are processing the car for additional evidence.
Investigators conducted dozens of interviews, subpoenaed records and reviewed video surveillance before requesting the arrest warrant, according to authorities.
Cisneros-Elacio is next expected in court on Friday.
