$75K Bail For Man Accused Of Driving Drunk, Causing Crash

The collision happened in the area of Route 137 and Route 21 in Libertyville last month. Now, Benjamin Lortie faces DUI charges.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 37-year-old Libertyville man faces an aggravated drunken driving charge for allegations he caused a crash last month. The collision happened in the area of Route 137 and Route 21 at 1:38 a.m. on Sept. 9, according to police.

Benjamin Lortie, of the 30300 block of North Center Street, has been charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol following the crash.

Police say the charges were filed again Lortie after they found a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle involved in the crash in a parking lot in the 100 block of East Cook Avenue, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.

The driver, who was identified Lortie, showed signs of impairment and was arrested based on the results of field sobriety tests, according to police.

Lortie's bail has been set at $75,000.
