9 Face Charges for XMas Eve Brawl at Gurnee Mills

Arrest warrants have been issued for seven adults and two juveniles.

Mob action charges have been filed against seven accused of starting a fight at Gurnee Mills Mall in Gurnee on Christmas Eve.

The fight broke out between several subjects at the mall, 6170 W. Grand Avenue in Gurnee, and a video of the brawl was later posted on social media. Though all the suspects left the mall before authorities could arrived, Gurnee officers were able to ID all parties involved with the assistance from the Waukegan Police Department Gurnee Mills Security, police said Thursday.

Officers began interviewing witnesses and participants to determine what had occurred, according to a news release.

It was learned that this isolated incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two parties who happened to see each other at the mall.

After completing the investigation, Gurnee officers met with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office to review the facts of this case. Arrest warrants were issued for all parties involved in the incident.

In addition to seven adults who are facing charges, two juveniles will be referred to juvenile court for their involvement in the incident. The adults who face charges include:

  • Juan Padilla, 23, North Chicago: mob action (class 4), 2 counts obstructing justice (class 4). Padilla’s bond was set at $50,000.
  • Amania Dubose, 18, North Chicago: mob action (class 4 felony). Bond was set at $20,000.
  • Amanda Ortiz, 22, North Chicago: 2 counts aggravated battery (class 3 felony), 1 count mob action (class 4 felony). Bond was set at $50,000.
  • Adonis Skyles, 27, Waukegan: mob action (class 4 felony). Skyles’ bond was set at $30,000.
  • David Wales Jr., 19, Gurnee: mob action (class 4 felony) bond $30,000
  • Sapphire Young, 18, North Chicago: mob action (class 4 felony). Bond was set at $20,000
  • Deaja Cherry, 18, North Chicago: mob action (class 4 felony). Bond was set at $20,000.
