• Both District 128 High Schools Rank Among Illinois' Best (patch.com) — Libertyville residents can celebrate Libertyville High School's strong showing in U.S. News & World Report's latest rankings, placing 20th in Illinois and 462nd nationally. Vernon Hills High School also scored highly, as the report compared nearly 18,000 schools using test performance, graduation rates, college readiness, and success with underserved students.
   

• Coroner IDs Woman, 31, Who Drowned After Rescuing Son From River: Authorities (patch.com) — Libertyville readers are learning more about the woman who died after rescuing her son from the Des Plaines River near Independence Grove Forest Preserve on Sunday evening. Authorities say 31-year-old Angelina Khalimendik of Hinsdale helped her son reach safety before she submerged, was pulled from the water by family and bystanders, and later died at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The Lake County Coroner's Office ruled her death consistent with drowning, and the incident remains under investigation.
