LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Libertyville officials have rejected a proposal to demolish the vacant building at 211 S. Milwaukee Ave. and build a 194-foot-long car wash on the site.
The village board voted last week to deny the proposal after both the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals recommended against it in 6-0 votes, according to the Daily Herald. Officials said the proposed use was too intensive for the property and did not fit the village's vision for the South Milwaukee Avenue corridor, a key gateway to downtown.
The proposal came from Papo's 3 LLC, which operates eight car washes in the Chicago area, the Daily Herald is reporting.
